The Arran ferry terminal is in Ardrossan which is approximately 16 miles, 20 minutes from East Laigh Gree.
Dumfries House
Dumfries House is one of Britain's most beautiful stately homes. Set in 2,000 acres of land, this stunning estate and 18th-century house with its unrivalled collection of original furniture has something for everyone.
Saved by the intervention in 2007 by His Royal Highness, The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, now King Charles III, Dumfries House combines the neoclassical architecture of Robert Adam with the furniture of Thomas Chippendale and leading 18th-century Scottish cabinet makers. Visitors can explore this stunning 2,000 acre estate 365 days a year, with free entry and parking.
Dumfries house is approximately 26 miles and 40 minutes from East Laigh Gree.
Culzean Castle
This glorious 260ha estate was once the playground of David Kennedy, 10th Earl of Cassillis – a man who was keen to impress with his wealth and status. Opulent to the extreme, the park is planted with conifers and beech, sculpted around miles of sandy coastline dotted with caves, and finished off with a Swan Pond, an ice house, flamboyant formal gardens and fruit-filled glasshouses. The castle itself is perched on the Ayrshire cliffs, incorporating everything the earl could wish for in his country home. It was designed by Robert Adam in the late 18th century and is filled to the turrets with treasures that tell the stories of the people who lived here.
Culzean Castle is approximately 38 miles and 55 minutes from East Laigh Gree.
Robert Burns Birthplace Museum
Scotland’s favourite son, Robert Burns and his poetry and songs are known and loved all around the world. The best place to get close to Burns and his genius is his birthplace in the beautiful village of Alloway. The museum starts a journey that weaves through the village, taking you from historical buildings to landmarks known to Burns.

Harbour Arts Centre is the cultural hub for North Ayrshire. They offer a diverse programme of theatre, comedy, music and visual arts, often featuring local artists and a wide range of classes and workshops to suit all ages and abilities.
Eglinton Castle estate
Eglinton Castle estate in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, take a stroll round the beautiful parkland with miles of stunning scenery, the perfect place to stop and enjoy a picnic while the kids play in the park. Other activities are available such as fishing inside the park.
Irvine Beach
Irvine Beach is definitely worth a visit. Set in sand dunes and grass with beautiful views of Arran, the beach also boasts facilities including picnic sites, parking and toilets.
Hampden Park Stadium Tour
Serving as the national stadium of football in Scotland, the 51,866 capacity sporting theatre is the normal home venue of the Scotland national football team and was the home of club side Queen’s Park for over a century. Hampden Park regularly hosts the latter stages of the Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup competitions and has also been used for music concerts and other sporting events, such as when it was reconfigured as an athletics stadium for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The Scottish Maritime Museum
Located nearby in Irvine and situated inside the Grade A listed building known as the Linthouse. The Scottish Maritime Museum holds an important nationally recognised collection of historic ships, artefacts, shipbuilding machinery, machine tools, and fascinating personal items.
Ardrossan Castle Ruins
Make sure you experience a piece of Scottish history by visiting the ruins of the Ardrossan Castle which is situated nearby in the town of Ardrossan. View the ruins of the castle which is defended by a moat and standing on a ridge above the town. There is a keep dating back from the fifteenth century, and a vaulted range containing a kitchen and cellars with a well
East Laigh Gree is ideally situated for this years British Open at Royal Troon.
Only 10 miles from Irvine train station if you want to take the train to the Open.
Approximately 15 miles from Troon if you prefer to drive.

Golfing in Ayrshire is fantastic with several high quality links and parkland courses.
We are also about 1-2 hours from Dumfries and Galloway where there are some fantastic places to fish, including hill lochs with wild brown trout.
